Develop a Schedule
Information
One of the greatest advantages to a Web site is providing your students and parents with a schedule. You may want a weekly, a nine week or a semester schedule. Of course, the challenge to a schedule is the many interruptions we face as teachers. Therefore, it is important to update your schedule on a weekly basis. To create this schedule you will learn how to work with tables.
Activity
Open a blank Home Page document. If Home Page is not open you may go to the launcher and open the program. If it is open, go to the Application menu and select Claris Home Page 3.0. Next go to the menu bar File/New Page. (Please remember that Claris Home Page and FileMaker Home Page are the same software. The company just changed the name, so the name may vary from computer to computer.)

Print off the handouts that go with this movie. Anytime you see this icon, click on it to view, and or print out the handouts.

Activity

Insert a table. To learn more about tables and how they're used, watch the video. As you design your page, you may find that it would be useful to change the color of the table or the layout of the table. Watch the video on table features and learn more about using tables to enhance your Web site. After watching the video change the color and border size of your table to a setting of your choice.

On your own
Open a new blank Home Page document. Create a "links page/resource page." On this page you need to create an appropriate title and then use a table to add at least 5 links that are relevant to your class. No video is provided for this activity, but you could review earlier videos for additional assistance. Once your page is finished, link the" links page" to your "home page" AND your "home page" to the "links page."
Make sure to link this page to your home page AND your home page to this page. You now have a nice working Web site to get you started with your students and parents. Keeping your schedule up to date and revising your home page will be the key to its success. It's now time to move on to some advanced features of both FileMaker Home Page and designing a Web site.
