FFA Freshman Shannon Maxwell named State Creed Speaking Champion
Shannon Maxwell, a member of the Holton FFA chapter, took home top honors in the Kansas FFA Creed Speaking Career Development Event (CDE). The four finalists of the event were Naicee Gugelmeyer, South Barber FFA, who placed second; Theo Kassebaum, Centre FFA, who placed third; and Jordan Bell, Hill City FFA, who placed fourth. The Creed Speaking CDE develops public speaking skills in younger members as only greenhands, first year members, are eligible to compete.

Klahr Makes Bid for State FFA Office
Kayla Klahr was extra busy during state FFA convention as she interviewed as a candidate for State FFA Office. The 2009 Holton FFA Graduate spent hours participating in interviews, giving speeches, presenting workshops, and working on behalf of the Kansas FFA. Although not selected for a state office, Kayla did an outstanding job representing herself, her family, and Holton High School throughout the week. Excellent job Kayla, we are very proud of you!
The 2009-10 Kansas FFA Officers elected were: President - Garrett Lister, Marysville; Vice President - Nellie Hill, Centre; Secretary - Allison Penner, Clay Center; Treasurer - Hannah Miller, Chapman; Reporter - Alyson McCall, Minneapolis; and Sentinel - Zach Langford, Buhler FFA.
