Computerized Accounting 1- 1 credit, 10-12 Accounting 1 introduces students to basic accounting principles, concepts, procedures and career options. The course progresses through three complete accounting cycles: proprietorship, partnership, and corporation. Students will be introduced to spreadsheets through special units covering automated accounting on microcomptuers. This course prepares students for entry-level employment in accounting-related positions and for advanced study in accounting. |

Computerized Accounting 3- 1 credit, 12, PreReq: Computerized Accounting 1 & 2 Computerized Accounting 3 expands on the fun damentals studied in Accounting 2 and includes partnerships and corporate accounting procedures. Microcomputers are used to develop and reinforce accounting concepts. |
Marketing/Advertising- 1/2 credit, 10-12 Marketing and Advertising is a tremedous opportunity for all students pursuing a business related career field. It is open to all Sophomore, Junior or Senior wanting to succeed in the business world and everyday life. It is a business class that will focus on how marketing and advertising influences all of us in our everday lives. Students iwll get to pick and choose what they woule like to focus on during the 1st Nine Weeks with the instructor deciding on the 2nd Nine Weeks, of what is important in maketing and advertising. Numerous activities that will be a hands on approach will be used during the smester in order to reinforce what is taught throughout the semester. Outside presenters will be used as a means of relating to the students on what happens in the world of business outside of the school walls. |
Buisness Finance- 1 Credit, 10-12 1 Semester Business Finance is an exciting and new way of exposing students to finance through practical hands on learning experiences. Student will be able to pick and choose on what they would like to learn and participate in regarding anything in the financial field. The class is open to all Sophomore, Juniors, and Seniors. Finance will be taught through various learning and exciting activities. Outside resources will be used throughout the semester in order to help reinforce to students what is going on in the ouside world regarding finance. This class is a must for ALL STUDENTS!!!! |
Buisness Documents and Processing- 1 credit, 9-12 The students will be introduced to word processing concepts that will include formatting and text editing through exercises such as: centering, tabulation, reports, outlines, letters, timings, and composition skills. Grammer, spelling, math, reading, and proofreading techniques are emphasized. This course will provide the personal skills necessary for both the college and vocational bound students in operating a computer more effectively. |
Advanced Computer Applications- 1 credit, 10-12, PreReq: Buisness Documents and Processing This class will combine business applications that include: Word Processing, Spreadsheets, and Data Base Applications. This class will combine Corel WordPerfect Suite for Windows and Microsoft Office for Windows and complete course series. Features included are: integrated simulation, graphic illustraions, and a variety of production skills. This class will meet the proficient user leave for Microsoft Office and Corel WordPerfect. This course is designed for those that have had computerized typing and want to enhance their computer skills for business, college, technical school, or personal development. |
Comptuer Applications & Technology- 1 credit, 9 (REQUIRED) Computer proficiencies learned are necessary for success at HHS and meet the KSB approved Qualified Admissions Pre-college Curriculum requirement. Students will learn software terms and usage , word processing skills, creating, formatting editing, and revising documents, spreadsheet skills, and database skills. Networking terms and tasks such as E-mailing, and Internet skills are included. General technology policies (rules, ethics, policies, etc.) will be reviewed. This is a required class. Students transferring into HHS will need to enroll in this class or demonstrate the required proficiencies. Software students will be exposed to includes, but is not limited to: Appleworks, Microsoft Word, Powerpoint, and Dreamweaver. This class will also provide experience in both the Windows environment and the Macintosh environment. This course meets KBOR QA requirements. |
Telecommunications & Multimedia- 1 credit, 10-12, PreReq: C+ or above in Computer Applications or by Instructor Approval Webpages, flyers, brochures, and videos will all be created in this exploratory class. Digital Photography will also be included as part of your grade in the form of outside shootings of events. This class can be taken in either a semester or year-long length, with credit being awarded appropriately. Advanced Telecommunications- 1 credit or 1/2 credit, 10-12, PreReq: Telecom. SPECIAL NOTE: MUST have a B or better or in Telecommunications. Instructor Permission ONLY. This class will work with teachers and students to do a variety of technology integration into the classroom. Prerequisites: Computer Applications, Telecommunications. (Semester or Full Year) |
Multimedia Production- 1 credit, 10-12, PreReq: B or above in Computer Applications & Technology and Telecommunications or by instructor approval Students in this course will be learning to make digital videos, DVD movies, burning of CD's, quicktime movies, quicktime vs movies, etc. Students are required to sign up and video various USD 336 programs. In addition to using various digital editing media software, such as iMovie, Final Cut Pro, and iDVD, students will also learn filming techniques. This course is designed for students who are eager to learn some of the cutting edge video technology available today. Students will produce many of the movies that are showcased on the wildcatmovies.com & wildcat news. All students will walk away with a DVD portfolio of their projects. |
Multimedia Productions 2- 1 credit, 12, PreReq: B or above in Multimedia Productions The same requirements of MMP 1, but Students will be required to learn & use Final Cut Pro in depth as well as the soundtrack software. Students will also be expected to be the lead editors and producers in the class. New in 2007-08 Students also have the opportunity to become FCP certified by taking an optional test if they desire. This class also helps produce Wildcat News! |
DTP & Web Page Design- 1/2 Credit, 12, PreReq: Computer Applications, Telecommunications, Instructors Approval INDEPENDENT STUDY ONLY (limit 3) Do you want to put your design skills to work? This class is responsible for the maintenance of many of the pages throughout the district. Before you will be admitted to this class you will need to meet with the teacher to devise a plan for the semester. |
In House Training- 1 credit, 12, PreReq: Computer Applications & Technology & 3 other Business/Computer courses, Instructor Approval (Limit 12) This is a production based class. Actual documents will be produced for the community and for the school. Examples of projects are: Web Pages for businesses, flyers, brochures, bulletins, Videos, etc. This is the final course in the computer track of courses. Student must have had (3 other computer courses), such as Computer Applications and Technology, Telecommunications, Advanced Telecommunications OR Multimedia Productions and one other business/comptuer course of your choosing. This class will be treated like a job, and there is no formal classroom instruction. This course should be considered by anyone wanting to enter into the business market, or the demanding computer technology field. Students will be required to keep a time sheet of the projects they work on. |
