USD 336 Graduation Requirements

(Approved by USD 336 Board of Education in May 1998)

A student shall be eligible for graduation from Holton High School upon successful completion of the thirteen required units plus fourteen units of elective courses totaling 27 units of credit. Allowance may be made for students in programs like Washburn Institute of Technology as 1 or 2 less credits are attainable. (i.e. one year WIT = 26.5 credits required and two years WIT
= 26 credits required. NOTE: block scheduling allows students to earn a potential of 8 credits per year with a 4 year total of 32 potential credits.

 

REQUIRED UNITS

Four units of English/Language Arts:

Three units of Social Studies:

World History/Civics (10th grade)...... 1unit

American History (11th grade)......1 unit

Government(12th grade)......1/2 unit

Other...... 1/2 unit

Three units of Science (one of which must be Biology):

Earth & Space Science..... 1 unit

Biology......1 unit

Other......1 unit

Three units of Mathematics ( minimum Algebra 1 level competency plus one additional unit):

Algebra 1 or above..... 1 unit

Other ..... 2 unit

Other:

One unit of Physical Education and Health - 9th or 10th grade

One unit of Computer Applications and Technology - 9th grade

One unit of Fine Arts

Electives make up the remainder of the units of credit, depending upon graduation year.
