Algebra 1 and Geometry (or courses above) are required or Applied Math 1, Applied Math 2, and Consumer Math.

VPL- 1 credit, 9-10

VPL stands for Virtual Prescription Learning.  VPL is a computer based class that prescribes lessons for students to review and enhance their Math skills.  VPL strengthens Pre-Algebra skills, preparing students for Algebra 1..

Consumer Math-1 unit of credit, Grades 11-12

This course is a comprehensive review of the fundamental operations of arithmetic with respect to whole numbers, common fractions, decimal numbers, and mixed numbers. The course is designed primarily for application of simple mathematics to everyday living and home management. These applications include such things as figuring percentages, interest, finance charges, income withholding, loans, personal accounting, budgets, and other types of general interest. Income with-holding dealing with income taxes, credit, puchases, insurance, investments and loans.

Algebra I-1 credit, Grades 9-12

This class covers properties of the real number system and solving equations. Review sybols, notations, adding and subtracting real numbers and goes over varibles and simple open sentences. Topics also covered include: solving equations, inequalities and word problems, polynomials, adding, subtracting, multiplying, and dividing. Working with fractions of both real numbers and algebraic fractions, graphing in the coordinate plan and learning to solve systems of linear equations are part of the class.

Geometry and Honors Geometry- 1 unit of credit, Grades 10-12 PreReq: Algebra I

Geometry is an elective math course of intergrated plane and solid geometry from the modern aspect with practical applications always kept in mind. it stresses the development of deductive reasoning by use of deductive proofs. Course topics investigate the relationship between ponts, lines, planes, angles, polygons, and simple solid figures. Areas and volumes of plane and solid figures are also stressed. An intoduction to trigonometry is also covered. Honors geometry will cover the content of geometry in more depth and at a accelerated pace.

Algebra 2-1 unit of credit, Grades 9-12 PreReq: Algebra I

Algebra II is an extension of Algebra I, the class reviews the basics of Algebra I and goes more into depth of each concept. Some new material that is covered: complex numbers, matrices, conics and their graphs.

Honors Algebra 2- 1 credit, 10-12, PreReq: A's in Algebra 1 & Geometry, or instructor approval

Honors Algebra 2 is an extension of Algebra 1, and goes more in depth of each concept, however it is more rigorous than Algebra 2. New materials includes: complex numbers, matrices, polynomials, rational functions, conics and their graphs. If time permits logarithms and exponentials will be covered.

Trigonometry-1/2 unit of credit, Grades 11-12 PreReq: Geometry

Is the study of triangles, which include a rigorous examination of right triangles, circular functions, trigonometric function and their graphs. Further topics include trigonometric identities, inverse function and oblique triangles.

Discrete Math- 1/2 unit of credit, Grades 11-12 PreReq: Geometry.

Is the study of the relationship between graph theory, vectors, determinants, sequences, series, probability, combinatorics, and other topics as time permits.

College Algebra- 1/2 unit of credit, 3 College Hours, Grade 12 PreReq: Algebra II

College Algebra is intended as a comprehensive study of the fundamental laws of algebra, exponents, linear and quadratic equations, inequalities, systems of equations, graphing, polynomials and polynomial equations, logarithms, complex numbers and other topics as time permits.

Pre-Calculus- 1 unit of credit, Grade 12 PreReq: Honors Algebra 2

Pre-Calculus is a rigorous study of trigonometry and in-depth analysis of functions and conic sections. Students must understand and communicate mathematical concepts graphically, numerically, analytically, and verbally.

AP-Calculus- 1 credit, 12 PreReq: Pre-Calculus

The study of change. The four main topics are limits, continuity, dericatives, and intergrals. Students will understand and communicate these four concepts. Students will complete a nationally standardized, comprehensive, three hour final exam that, if passed, awards the student with college calculus credit.

Math Standards- 1 credit, 9-11, Instructor Recommendation and/or low state assessments scores

This class is designed for students who were flagged on the Kansas State Assessments and who require more time to meet KS State Math Standards. This class will utilize a variety of techniques to practice benchmarks & indicators to enhance math content knowledge.
