None of the follwoing courses listed are required for graduation. A student may enroll in only one of the following courses each year unless special permission is granted by the Principal: Teacher Aide or Technical Assistant.
TEACHER'S AIDE - 1/2 Credit per year, 11 - 12, PreReq: GPA of B- or above and Teacher Approval. Students must apply through the HS Counseling Center. Click here for the Application
Students will perform duties as directed by the teacher. Most work will be in the realm of administrative paperwork and teacher assistance. This may be at any level from Kindergarten through 12th grade. Stuents may apply and request a specific teacher, however, this does not guarantee that student will be assinged to that specific teacher. Student aides will be required to follow the policies set forth by the building principal and good attendance will be a consideration when applications are considered. Students must be a " student in good standing" in order to become a teacher aide or continue as one.
TECHNICAL ASSISTANT - 1 credit, 11 -12, PreReq: GPA of B- or above recommended. Application to and approval by Media Specialist.
Students will be selected on the basis of technology ability, responsibility, honesty, cooperativeness, and ability to work with other students. Technical Assistants are responsible to assist with wiring, hardware and software installation throughout the district, and other duties as assigned; care for and operate audiovisual equipment; assist Media Specialist with technology and other tasks; learn and operate new software; help supervise and assist in the library and computer labs. Students may be assigned to the media center or a technology teacher in any of the schools.
Sports Technical Assistant--(INSTRUCTOR
APPROVAL ONLY!), 10-12, Students earn 1 Computer credit for this class.
Do you like working with video? Do you enjoy working with sports video
clips and producing games for the local cable channel, coaches? Then
this is the class for you. Students in this class are required to
put in extra time filming games outside of class if a fulltime filmer has
not been found for each sport. Students will also be required to produce
various sports highlight tapes as well as the athletic banquet video. All
students who enroll in this class must have had atleast a B in computer
Applications or Telecommunications & Multimedia. This is a demanding,
but very rewarding class, as many of the projects created in this class
are seen throughout the community.
TUTOR CLASS - No Credit Issued, 9-12, Approval of Instructor, Counselor &/or Principal
This course is designed to assist students who need help in two or more classes in order to be succesful in school. (An exception may be made if the student is needing assistance in English only.) It is not designed for students who already receiving other services. The student will recieve individual assistance in organizational skills and specifically in the classes in which he/she is experiencing difficulty. This is a structured class and is not considered a study hall. A constant monitoring of grades and progress will be done and weekly contact with parents is expected. Students may be required to attend sessions after school and Thursday Night school in order to complete work. To be admitted to the Tutor program, a student must be recommended by the Student Assistance Team (SIT) or recommended by Tutor instructor, Principal, or Counselor.
