Spanish 1- 1 credit, 10-12 - (C or better in English recommended) Spanish 1 is a course designed to teach the basic elements of the Spanish Language and the many cultures it represents throught a variety of activities designed to foster second language acquisition and cultural understanding. Via Vocabulary and grammer study within a themed unit, the student will begin to speak, read, write, and understand spoken Spanish. Spanish 2- 1 credit, 11-12, PreReq: Spanish 1 (B or above) Spanish 2 is a continuation of Spanish language acwuisition focusing on successful communication through speaking, listening, reading, and writting. A more thorough understanding of Hispanic cultures is also learned. Course strategies include a variety of activities and assessments. Units are focused on specific themes. Spanish 3 – 1 credit – 11-12, Pre- req: Spanish 2 (C or better) In spanish 3, students continue to develop their proficiency in speaking, listening and writing: interacting with other speakers of Spanish; understanding oral and written messages in Spanish, and making oral and written presentations in the target language. They comprehend the main ideas of authentic materials that they read and hear, and are able to identify significant details when the topics are familiar. Spanish is used more often than in the lower levels of the class. |
