TUTOR CLASS

 

No credit issued, Grades 9-12

 

Prerequisites: Approval of Instructor &/or Counselor

  This course is designed to assist students who need help in two or more classes in order to be successful

in school. (An exception may be made if the student in needing assistance in English only.) It is not

designed for students who are already receiving other services. The student will receive individual

assistance in organizational skills and specifically in the classes in which he/she is experiencing difficulty.

This is a structured class and is not considered a study hall. A constant monitoring of grades and progress

will be done and weekly contact with parents is expected. Students may be required to attend sessions after

school and Thursday school in order to complete work.

 

STUDY TIPS:

 

1 . Set Goals & Priorities; break a big job into several small jobs

 

2 . Organize your time. Do not wait until the last minute to do large assignments or projects

 

3 . Go to class prepared and get the most out of class time. Be sure you understand what you are to do for future assignments and

homework

 

4 . Study at home without interruptions and distractions; try to study a little each day

 

5 . Take notes in classes, keep track of them, study them before the test

 

6 . Do not hesitate to ask questions or get help; consider talking to your teacher or having a study buddy

 

7 . Stick with a project or assignment even if it's difficult or boring. If a project is boring to you it probably will be boring for

whomever else looks at it, so make it interesting. Try new ideas and put some flair into old ideas.

 

8 . Start with longer assignments or assignments that you least want to do, then take a break and work on something else, be sure to return until you are done.

 

9 . Try to make your assignments fun. Studying with a friend makes time pass more quickly and the time spent is more interesting

 

10. Use your planner and plan ahead. Read / do your assignments on time so that you received maximum points.
