enrichment

Below are some ideas of things you could do to enrich your understanding of the Holocaust.

  • 1. Although this play ends with the capture of the Franks and their companions, their lives and stories continued. Research what happened to Anne and her companions and share your findings in the form of an essay.

6.Psychologists have studied the effects of overcrowding and isolation. Report on these studies and how they relate to the story of Anne Frank.

  • 2. What is your favorite scene in this play? Why is it your favorite? With some of your classmates, choose a scene upon which you all agree and dramatize it for the rest of the class. Afterwards, you may want to share your reasons for choosing that scene.

  • 7. Create a front page for the local newspaper, reporting the news of the day the Franks were arrested.

  • 3. Make a poster that advertises the play. Include an eye-catching graphic, critics' comments, and some basic information for people who may not know what the play is about.

  • 8. Research what kinds of food and how many calories eight people need to eat daily in order to survive. Figure out what foods would serve these needs in the most economical way. Make a chart showing your findings.

  • 4. Anne Frank has lived on through her diary. The Anne Frank Foundation, a nonprofit organization, aids children in dangerous situations all over the world. Research the foundation and write a report on it.

  • 9. Research whether the racist philosophies of Nazism are alive today in any form. Look for current or recent events anywhere in the world that echo the programs and policies of the Nazis. Compare and Contrast your findings in an essay.

  • 5. Create a model for a Holocaust memorial. Study other memorials for ideas.
